1. Earth Hour Concert Powered by Bicycles!

When Geoffrey Ball from Ideas and Future Spark Bicycles and Asha Gaskill from Communicado decided they wanted to put on a free concert at Fed Square to celebrate Earth Hour on Saturday 28 march 2009 they came to Cherry Rock to bring the dream alive in terms of a concept and line-up that could affordably draw media coverage and people to this event of Australian climate change leadership.

James Young and Cherry Rock developed the idea of a one-off Earth Hour Supergroup who would play a unique Earth Hour Concert powered by Future Sparks’ bicycles featuring some of Australia’s top musicians performing popular songs chosen to celebrate the Earth Hour theme of change and environmental concern.

Hence the Earth Hour Supergroup was born featuring Ashley Naylor (EVEN, Paul Kelly), Wally Kempton (EVEN, The Meanies), Matt Cotter (EVEN), Bruce Haymes (Renee Geyer), Chris Cheney (The Living End), Nic Cester (Jet), Kram (Spiderbait), Paris Wells, Renee Geyer, Iva Davies (Ice House) and Vika and Linda Bull.

Cherry Rock even organised Federal Minister Peter Garrett to attend and speak… Media coverage was abundant, the event was a Fed Square full house and everyone loved it…
